Japanese silk brocade fabric, most likely a deconstructed piece from a traditional obi (kimono sash) or a Buddhist priest's robe (kesa). The rich gold thread work and traditional floral motifs of peonies and chrysanthemums suggest high quality from the Nishijin district of Kyoto, a famous center for this type of weaving. Has definite wear due to age. Tiny tears and backing coming undone. Would make a beautiful piece of wall art/hanging. Please zoom in on all photos and if additional photos are needed, please ask.
